Fresh Sugar Lip Care

I had heard a lot of good things about these lips balms by Fresh for years before I ever gave them a try . Why did I wait so long? Mostly because I find them outrageously overpriced and unlikely to be worth the price tag of $22.50 for 0.15oz . If you're gonna charge this much for a lip balm it better give me a whole new set of lips! Joking aside, my point is, even if this lip balm performed as well as some of my favorite lip balms I still would find $22.50 to not be worth it so I left it alone . A long time passed and this year Sephora decided to kindly gift these mini SUGAR LIP CARE on VIB's birthday's (Very Important Beauty Insider card holders) so if you have one of these loyalty cards and your birthday is coming up, don't forget to go claim your gift!
After having tried them, I stand by what I said before : They're not worth it . Not only are they pricy, they don't last very long in the tube . They have a very soft texture that slides off the tube and onto your lips, disappearing from the tube rather quickly! Also because of this extra soft texture, beware since they do not do well in the heat and may break off while you're applying which is VERY annoying . However, I can imagine this being less of a problem with the normal size tube which is thicker than these minis . All of that being said, they do feel very luxurious on the lips and do a wonderful job of hydrating your lips . Also they have SPF 15 which is always a nice plus for wearing during the day . The normal size packaging in heavy in my opinion, but these minis are adorable and really convenient to carry around . I know last year Fresh released these in a holiday set which I bought for a friend as a gift (she's crazy about these!) so if you find them in their mini version it might be worth giving it a try (the set was also a better value for your money) . Also they do come in a variety of colors which is the advantage these have over regular lip balms . If the price tag doesn't bother you and you want some color but lipsticks are too drying for you, these are a nice way to get some color while getting massive hydration. Oh, but I should mention, none of the colors I've ever played with at sephora have any shimmer. Also, yhey vary in pigmentation: some a more sheer than others, none a very opaque, just more pigmented.

  1. I also tried these from a free sample from Sephora. I really like them and they last a long time. I switch between these and Dr. Hauschka's lip balm throughout the day. However, I just ran out of the Dr. Hauschka's lip balm and may not purchase it again. It is expensive and didn't last very long. Even for around $14 with the Pharmaca discount it still seems like a lot for how tiny the jar is. Have you tried the Dr. Hauschka lip balm? Any other lip balms that you like?

    1. Hi Tiffany, thanks for the comment!

I completely agree! The Dr. Hauschka lip balms are great in terms of formula, my only pet peeve is I think they're both too expensive for how little they last! I have more or less the same problem with the fresh lip balm but I'm glad it has lasted longer for you :)

I have tried both the jar and the stick Dr. Hauschka lip balms. I think they feel very similar and I just find the stick version easier to carry around. I actually have a review of it on the blog, it's part of my "best lip balms" post though it's the least favorite precisely because of the cost/benefit ratio.
