I recently became aware of the existence of the Anna Sui boutique in Soho. Not quite sure how I missed it in so many years. I remember when sephora used to carry Anna Sui and what a shame it was that they stopped carrying it. Ever since then I lusted over Anna Sui boutiques abroad and was completely clueless of the presence of one actually AT home. In any case, needless to say I was quite excited and had to take home one of their scrumptious rose-scented Rouge G - Glossy lipsticks.
Why scrumptious you may ask?
#1 I'm a sucker for anything rose scented!
#2 The packaging of Anna Sui cosmetics is incredibly detailed and although I have a love hate relationship with it (I tend to prefer sleeker types of packaging), you have got to praise the effort they put into the luxuriousness of their packaging. Check it out:
#3 This lipstick just melts onto your lips and gives the most gorgeous glossy look. In my opinion better than the oh so hyped YSL Rouge Volupte. For me the Rouge Volupte lipstick tend to accentuate lines while the Anna Sui lipstick makes your lips look perfectly smooth and (here it is again) scrumptious!
I bought shade #303 which is a beautiful slightly cool toned pink (it's reading a bit pinker on the photo than it is in real life) with gold shimmer. That’s a combination that I actually quite like because for some reason the gold shimmer warms up the pink in a really harmonious way making the lipstick almost neutral while still being quite shimmery. Here are some photos:
In my opinion shimmer tends to be fairly biased. It either looks very cool or very warm so if the base goes along with the tone of the shimmer, you almost always get cool or warm shimmer lip products. But never something that just goes with everything. This does. This could be the only lipstick in my bag regardless of whether my makeup called for a cool or warm lip product. I love that about it. It also gives me a "my lips but better" look although of course not quite since it has shimmer in it. If you couldn’t already tell, I love this lipstick. I do wish it was cheaper and natural (though it is already full of natural ingredients, it's not 100%) so I’m not gonna go out and buy several of these, but since this color is quite unique, I might eventually repurchase this particular one again.
INGREDIENTS: Acetylated lanolin,polyglyceryl-2 triisostearate, isotridecyl isononanoate, triethylhexanoin, diisostearyl malate, hydrogenated polyisobutene, polyethylene, ethylene/propylene copolymer, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, rosa canina fruit extract, rosa canina fruit oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, barium sulfate, BHT, calcium carbonate, candelilla wax hydrocarbons, ceresin, dimethicone, dimethicone/methicone copolymer, lecithin, methicone, microcristalline wax, silica, silica dimethyl silylate, zea mays (corn) oil, pheoxyethanol, fragrance (parfum), [may contain (+/-) iron oxides (CI77491), titanium dioxide (CI 77891), red 7 (CI 15850), yellow 5 lake (CI 19140)]
PRICE: $24
CONS: Not 100% natural and also, I don't think it's particularly accessible depending on where you live. For a brand that's been around for so many years, I think it could be more readily available.
PROS: It's moisturizing and smooths out the appearance of lines giving the lips a perfect glossy look without the stickiness of a gloss. No adverse reactions so 100% Sensitastic approved.
WHERE TO BUY: Anna Sui boutiques
